Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check

2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Auto HVAC w Dual Zone option parameter in the DIM Set Options data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Auto HVAC w Dual Zone option is active?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 8

3

  1. Turn the heater and A/C control to AUTO.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Pass. HVAC Switch parameter in the Driver Door Module data list.
  3. Press the warmer (red) switch and then the cooler (blue) switch on the passenger temperature control.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Pass. HVAC Switch parameters are within the specified ranges?

Red: 127-158 Counts Blue: 51-81 Counts None: 204-234 Counts

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 15

4

  1. With a scan tool, observe the Right Program Number parameter in the Instrument Panel Module data list.
  2. Press the warmer (red) switch and then the cooler (blue) switch on the passenger temperature control.

Does the Right Program Number parameter increase when the red button is pressed and decrease when the blue button is pressed?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 17

5

Adjust the passenger temperature control from full WARM to full COOL.

Do any of the red or blue indicators illuminate?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

6

Adjust the passenger temperature control from full WARM to full COOL.

Did an indicator illuminate for each temperature adjustment except for neutral?

--

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 10

7

  1. Adjust the passenger temperature control to full WARM.
  2. Press OFF one time on the heater and A/C control.

Did all of the passenger HVAC control indicators turn OFF?

--

System OK

Go to Step 17

8

With a scan tool, enable the Auto HVAC w Dual Zone option in the DIM Set Options data list.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 21

--

9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the passenger temperature control.
  3. Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage (B+) circuit of the passenger temperature control to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

12 V

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 13

10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the passenger temperature control.
  3. Disconnect the passenger door module.
  4. Test the PDM low side input circuits of the passenger temperature control for a short to voltage, short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?
