Was the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Place shift lever in the PARK position.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the DRL relay status.

Does the scan tool display OFF status?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DRL relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the DRL headlamps turn OFF?

Connect a test light from the control circuit of the DRL relay to the coil side feed circuit of the DRL relay.

Does the test light illuminate?

Test for a short to ground in the DRL relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the dash DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Repair the short to power in the DRL headlamp power feed circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
