Important: The vehicle shift lever must be out of the PARK position in order for the DRL headlamps to operate.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition a with engine Off.
  3. With the scan tool, command the DRL relay ON and OFF in the dash integration module (DIM) output control list.

Did the DRL headlamps turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DRL relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the coil side feed circuit of the DRL relay with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Probe the switch side feed circuit of the DRL relay with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DRL relay.
  3. Connect a test lamp from the coil side feed circuit of the DRL relay to the control circuit of the DRL relay.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, command the DRL relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the DRL relay switch side feed circuit and the DRL supply voltage circuit at the DRL relay connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the DRL headlamps illuminate?

Inspect for poor connections at the DRL headlamp relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the DRL headlamp relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open circuit or high resistance in the DRL relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
