Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the Ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Open the rear compartment.
  3. Disconnect the rear compartment courtesy lamp.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the signal feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb and a good ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp between the signal feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb and the ground circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp.

Inspect for poor connections at the bulb of the rear compartment courtesy lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb.

Repair open in the power feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
