Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool observe the headlamp switch input parameter.
  4. Turn the headlamp switch ON and OFF.

Does the headlamp switch input parameter turn ON and OFF?

  1. Connect a test lamp from the headlamp switch input circuit at the headlamp switch connector to battery positive voltage (B+).
  2. Turn the headlamp switch ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with the headlamp switch?

Test the headlamp switch ground circuit for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connection at the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Test the headlamp switch input circuit for high resistance or open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp dimmer switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp relay control circuit and battery positive voltage (B+).
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn ON the headlamps.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the headlamp relay control circuit for an open or short to power. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connection at the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Inspect for poor connection at the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
