Was the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the park lamp input data parameter while turn the park lamp switch ON and OFF.

Does the data parameter change with the switch?

With a scan tool, command the park lamp relay ON and OFF.

Do the park lamps turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage (B+) to the park lamp input circuit at the dash integration module (DIM).
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position then OFF.

Did the test lamp turn ON and OFF?

  1. Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage (B+) to the park lamp input circuit at the headlamp switch.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position then OFF.

Repair the open in the park lamp input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the park lamp relay.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp relay control circuit and the park lamp relay coil feed circuit.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool command the park lamp relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?
