Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Radio/Audio System?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Operate all of the steering wheel controls.

Do all of the steering wheel controls operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step  3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the steering column in-line fuse connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Test the ignition positive voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Measure the resistance between the ignition positive voltage circuit of the steering column in-line connector and the steering wheel control signal circuit.
  2. Depress the following steering wheel controls and record the resistance values:
  3. 2.1. Volume Up
    2.2. Volume Down
    2.3. Source
    2.4. Mute
    2.5. Seek Up
    2.6. Seek Down
    2.7. Scan
    2.8. AM/FM

Does the recorded resistances measure near the specified value?

1270 ohms

1564 ohms

1912 ohms

2387 ohms

3102 ohms

4282 ohms

6652 ohms

13,632 ohms

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the dash integration module (DIM) connector.
  3. Test the steering wheel control signal circuit for a short, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the steering wheel radio controls. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the appropriate steering wheel radio control.

Refer to Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly Replacement .

Important:: Perform the set up procedure for the DIM.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement .
