Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open all the vehicle doors.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Door Ajar Switch parameters in the Driver Door Module data list.

Does the scan tool display On for all four doors?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the door ajar switch that displayed Off.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the suspect door ajar switch and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the suspect Door Ajar Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display On?

Test the signal circuit of the suspect door ajar switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the suspect door ajar switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door ajar switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
