Did you review the Audible Warnings Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel integration module (IPM) connector C1.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance from IPM connector C1 key-in-ignition signal circuit to ground.

Does the resistance vary between the specified values when the key is in the ignition and when the key is removed?

5 ohms (Key in ignition)

∞(Key not in ignition)

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance from IPM connector C1 key in ignition signal circuit to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

10 Kohms

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a low resistance or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Inspect the IPM connector C1 for damage.

Repair the damaged connector.
