Check the engine oil level.

Is the engine oil level at the full mark on the dipstick?

1. Fill the engine oil level to the full mark on the dip stick.
2. Start the engine.

Does the low engine oil pressure indicator illuminate for approximately 3 seconds and turn off?

Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. With a scan tool observe the Oil Pressure Lamp output in the IPC data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the oil pressure lamp is ON?

Go to Step 5

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls-3.8L

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
