Did you review the Audible Warnings Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the Instrument panel module (IPM) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Key-In-Ignition parameter is On?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the key-in-ignition switch and the ground circuit of the key-in-ignition switch.

Does the key-in-ignition chime sound when the left front door is opened?

Test the key-in-ignition signal circuit for a short to voltage, a high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the key-in-ignition ground circuit for a short to voltage, a high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
