All clusters are equipped with a season and trip odometer. The base cluster has a dedicated display for the season odometer and a dedicated display for a trip odometer. The up-level cluster has two trip odometers. The cluster only displays one trip odometer at a time along with the season odometer. The trip odometer shall be switchable by the Odo/Trip button.

The odometer system works in the following way:

1. A transmission speed sensor sends a signal to a speed sensor buffer located in the PCM.
2. The PCM buffers the speed signal to a 4000 pulse per mile signal which is sent to the cluster.
3. The vehicle mileage is determined by counting the speed pulses and calculating the mileage for odometer displays.

The season odometer displays the total accumulated miles/km of the vehicle. This value is permanently stored in the EEPROM of the IPC. If an odometer malfunction occurs or if the IPC must be replaced, an authorized Delco service center must be contacted to program proper vehicle specifics (including mileage) for the IPC.

The season odometer is capable of displaying 999,999 kilometers or 999,999 miles depending on units selected. Leading zeros are not displayed. The display will not roll-over to 000,000 if the maximum displayed mileage or kilometers are reached. If the display limit is exceeded, the maximum value (999,999) is displayed. If the mileage is above 621,503 and metric units are selected the odometer shall display 999,999 km.

The trip odometer displays the accumulated mileage/km to the tenths of a mile/km since the last reset. This value is stored in KAM of the IPC. The up-level IPC has two trip odometers which can be selected by pressing the TRIP A/B button. The base level IPC has only one trip odometer. The trip odometer(s) may be reset on the IPC by pressing the TRIP RESET button when the trip information is being displayed in the DIC. If a button is not used to reset the trip odometer, the display will roll-over automatically as follows. The trip odometer will roll-over at 999.9 miles when operated in English mode and at 999.9 km in metric mode. When the trip odometer is displaying greater than 621.4 miles (operating in English mode) and the English/metric button is pressed, the trip odometer will reset to zero and display km values. If the English/metric button is pushed again, the cluster will convert the displayed km value into miles.
