DEFINITION: The SECURITY indicator is on or flashing at all times, or is inoperative.

Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent System?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the security indicator.

Does the security indicator come on for approximately 5 seconds and then turn off?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents and Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Using the scan tool, command the Instrument Cluster to "Wow".

Does the security indicator lamp come on and go off as the instrument cluster "Wows"?

Go to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Description and Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD) Operation

Go to Step 4

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step  5

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
