Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF.
  3. Activate the driver door lock switch.
  4. Observe the Driver Lock Switch parameter using the scan tool.
  5. Activate the passenger door lock switch.
  6. Observe the Passenger Door Lock Switch parameter using the scan tool.

Do both parameters change to both the lock and the unlock states?

Go to Step 12

Does the driver door parameter indicate both states?

Go to Step 5

  1. Activate the driver door lock switch.
  2. Observe the Driver Lock Switch parameter using the scan tool.

Does the Driver Lock Switch parameter change to any state other than Idle?

Go to Step 6

  1. Activate the passenger door lock switch.
  2. Observe the Passenger Lock Switch parameter using the scan tool.

Does the Passenger Lock Switch parameter change to any state other than Idle?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the driver door lock switch harness connector.
  3. Install a 3 A fused jumper in the harness connector, between the switch ground and the signal circuit of the lock state that did not respond.
  4. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF.

Does the Driver Door Lock Switch parameter indicate the missing state?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the passenger door lock switch harness connector.
  3. Install a 3 A fused jumper in the harness connector, between the switch ground and the signal circuit of the lock state that did not respond.
  4. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF.

Does the Passenger Door Lock Switch parameter indicate the missing state?

Go to Step 10

Test the ground circuit of the inoperative switch for an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the inoperative signal circuit for an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the inoperative door lock switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative door lock switch. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement .

Access the RIM door jamb switch states in the RIM Theft Information data list.

Do they all indicate OFF?

Go to Step 15

Test the door jamb switch circuit that indicates ON. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 15

Replace the door latch. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Choose each door lock, in the Door Lock Test application, of the Output Control application, of the Special Functions in the Driver Door Module data list using the scan tool.
  2. Command the door lock to lock and unlock.

Does each door lock and unlock when commanding LOCK and commanding UNLOCK?

Test the door lock motor circuits of the lock(s) that do not both lock and unlock for shorts to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the door module for the lock(s) that do not both lock and unlock. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the inoperative passenger door module or driver door switch assembly harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door switch assembly or passenger door module that fails to respond to the door lock switch signals. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement or Door Control Module Replacement .
