Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems?

  1. Disconnect the mirror connector of the door module for the inoperative outside mirror.
  2. Test the heater circuits for shorts to other circuits and to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

  1. Make sure that the door module controlling the inoperative mirror heater is connected to the harness connectors except the mirror harness connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF
  3. Attach a test light to the mirror heater circuit pins for the inoperative mirror heater.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 8

While observing the test light, command the mirror to heat by pressing the rear defrost button.

Does the test light illuminate?

Test the heater circuits for shorts or opens. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rear view mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative outside rear view mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Replace the door module of the inoperative mirror. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
