The sunroof control module contains the logic for the opening and the closing of the sunroof based on the power sunroof multifunction switch and the limit switch. The sunroof motor assembly contains the following components:

    • The reversible DC drive motor
    • The gear train
    • The limit switch

The sunroof control module determines sunroof motor direction based on inputs received from the overhead console sunroof switches. When the ignition switch is in the ON position or when retained accessory power (RAP) is active, voltage is applied to the power sunroof module via the RAP relay. The sunroof control module controls power sunroof motor direction by changing the polarity of the applied voltage. The sunroof control module remembers the sunroof position whenever the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. The limit switch is used in order to tell the sunroof control module that the glass is parallel to the sheet metal or that the glass has reached the comfort stop position. The switch only supplies open circuits or grounds to the module. An internal pull-up resistor in the sunroof control module, connected to battery voltage, supplies the voltage at each input when the switch contacts are open.

Open

The open mode is initiated by moving the power sunroof switch rearward to the first position. Ground is provided to the sunroof control module slide input . The sunroof control module applies voltage to the motor inputs.

Express Open

The express open mode is initiated by moving the power sunroof switch rearward to the second position (EXPRESS OPEN). Ground is provided to the sunroof control module EXPRESS and SLIDE inputs. The sunroof control module applies voltage to the motor inputs. Also, the sunroof control module will revert back to manual operation if the switch is not released within 1.5 seconds.

Vent Open

The vent open mode is initiated by moving the power sunroof switch upward. Ground is provided to the sunroof control module VENT input . The sunroof control module applies voltage to the motor inputs .

Close

The close mode is initiated by moving the power sunroof switch forward. Ground is provided to the sunroof control module slide and vent inputs. The sunroof control module applies voltage to the motor inputs. The motor will run until the sunroof slides to the fully closed position. The rear of the glass raises slightly, then seats to flush with the roof panel.

Vent Close

The vent close mode is initiated by moving the power sunroof switch downward. Ground is provided to the sunroof control module VENT input . The sunroof control module applies voltage to the motor inputs. The motor will run until the limit switch closes and ground is completed to the power sunroof control module limit switch input .
