Unable To install OnStar ADT Kit C345 Connector Missing - keywords 05-08-46-006N compatible dealer digital factory installation system upgrade

Subject:Unable to install OnStar® ADT kit, C345 connector missing

Models:2000 Buick LeSabre
2000 Pontiac Bonneville

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some dealers attempting to install the OnStar® digital upgrade (see current version of TSB 05-08-46-006) for a 2000 Buick LeSabre or Pontiac Bonneville may discover that connector C345 (32 way cam lock connector) is missing. This connector should be found right next to the OnStar® system in the trunk and is the main body connector for the OnStar® harness.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The OnStar® ADT upgrade can only be performed on vehicles with the Factory Installed OnStar system.

Connector C345 will only be present on vehicles that have the factory installed OnStar® system. If this connector is not present the vehicle will have the Dealer installed OnStar® system which is currently not compatible with the Analog to Digital upgrade.

Dealers may also further identify if the vehicle has a factory system by checking vehicle build in GMVIS. Dealer installed kits can also be quickly identified without any disassembly of the vehicle by the type of OnStar® keypad/button assembly used. Factory systems have the keypad integrated into the rear view mirror. Dealer installed systems will have a separate button assembly affixed to the inside rear view mirror by a "barrel mount" on the mirror arm or possibly affixed to the front windshield glass.

If an ADT kit is ordered for a vehicle and it is then determined that the vehicle does not have the factory installed OnStar®, dealers should return the unused ADT kit to Autocraft with a note that the vehicle is not compatible. Dealers will also need to reimburse the customer the fee charged for the upgrade.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
