Subject: | Identification of Fuel Tanks Prior to Replacement |
Models: | 2000 Buick LeSabre |
From the beginning of production, the 2000 Buick LeSabre was built with a 67 liter (17.5 gal) capacity fuel tank. However, an engineering change has made it possible to build vehicles with a 71 liter (18.5 gal) capacity fuel tank.
As of July 26, 1999, the 2000 Buick LeSabre is being built with a 71 liter (18.5 gal) fuel tank.
Prior to July 26, 1999, the following vehicles were also built with a 71 liter (18.5 gal) fuel tank.
From the Orion Assembly Center:
• | From VIN 1G4HP54KXY4109640 to 1G4HP54K0Y4109744 |
• | From VIN 1G4HP54KXY4109816 to 1G4HP54K0Y4109971 |

Important: The correct fuel tank replacement is required to ensure compliance with emission diagnostic procedures and proper fuel gauge indication.
To help avoid confusion, the following figure and table is provided to assist in identifying the proper fuel tank when replacement is necessary.
