Subject: | Intermittent or No Sound/Static in LH/RH Front Side Door Upper Speaker/Speaker System (Install Protective Material) |
Models: | 2000 Buick LeSabre |
2001 Oldsmobile Aurora |
Some customers may comment that the LH and/or RH front side door upper speaker(s) or the entire speaker system operates intermittently or is inoperative with the vehicle radio on.
On the 2000 Buick LeSabre, only the RH front side door upper speaker has exhibited this condition.
This condition may be due to the wiring of the front side door upper speaker(s) rubbing against a metal edge of the front side door inner door frame, resulting in an electrical ground out of the speaker(s) or speaker system.
Install a strip of non-conductive protective material over the metal edge of the front side door inner frame, using the following procedure:
1.1. | Use Special Tool J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover to pry out the retainer at the top of the upper trim (shark fin) panel from the door inner frame. |
1.2. | Lift the upper trim (shark fin) panel up to remove. |
3.1. | Insert the tabs into the slots on the door trim panel. |
3.2. | Insert the push-in retainer into the door inner frame. |
