In August, 1999, an improved Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Assembly was implemented into production in order to reduce the gear shift lever effort. However, as part of a continuing effort to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, a new Automatic Transmission Control (Gear Shift) Lever Assembly is now available from GMSPO.

Replace the existing Automatic Transmission Control (Gear Shift) Lever Assembly with the new assembly, P/N 26056013 (without Traction Control) or P/N 26056014 (with Traction Control).

Important: DO NOT reuse the Torx® head fastener. Install the shift lever with a new Automatic Transmission Control Lever Bolt/Screw, P/N 14094899. Install the control lever bolt/screw.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt/screw to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

Refer to the Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt sub-section of the Service Manual for replacement procedures.
