Info - Correct Radio Identification and Usage

Subject:Correct Radio Identification and Usage

Models:2000 Buick LeSabre

This bulletin is being issued to correct the parts information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-08-44-002 (Section 08 -- Body & Accessories).

A change was made in November, 1999 to the radios and antennas for the 2000 Buick LeSabre. The radios and antennas are not interchangeable.

Object Number: 690181 Size: MF

In the figure shown, the antenna on the left is the mini barb-less antenna (P/N 09389144). This antenna is free floating within the instrument panel.

The antenna shown on the right is called the dock & lock antenna (P/N 25665399). This antenna is mounted to the carrier of the instrument panel and is somewhat loose in the mounting, but not free floating.

When switching the sound system to meet the customer's needs, it is very important to determine which radio is in the vehicle prior to ordering either a service unit or an upgrade radio. To establish which radio is in the vehicle, perform the following steps:

  1. Connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle's ALDL connector.
  2. Enter the body side of the diagnostics to determine the part number of the radio that is installed in the vehicle.
  3. Compare the radio part number to the list in the Parts Information of this bulletin.

When the radio part number is found in the Parts Information table, the only compatible radio is the one found in that same column. Do not attempt to install a radio from the other column of radio part numbers.
