Condition

Some customers may comment on reduced HVAC performance. When the HVAC control is set on HI, the amount of air flow, heat and/or windshield clearing may be reduced.

Object Number: 792924 Size: MF

Cause

The reduction in HVAC performance may be due to a wet passenger compartment air filter (3). Water coming off the windshield (1) may run under the air inlet grille panel and then between the windshield frame lower reinforcement and the plenum upper panel in the area of the 3 spot welds (2). It then drips onto the passenger compartment air filter (3).

Correction

Seal the windshield frame lower reinforcement and the plenum upper panel joints located above the passenger compartment air filter with one of the seam sealers listed in this bulletin. Dry out or replace the air filter, P/N 25654414.

Repair Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Install the fender covers.
  3. Remove the access cover for the passenger compartment air filter from the air inlet grille panel.
  4. Remove the air filter assembly.

  5. Object Number: 792925 Size: SH
  6. Clean the joint areas to be sealed (4).
  7. Apply one of the seam sealers listed in this bulletin along the areas indicated (4).
  8. Follow the manufacturer's directions for application and drying time.

  9. Check the passenger compartment air filter to ensure it is clean, dry and not damaged. If the air filter assembly is damaged or can not be cleaned, replace it.
  10. Install the cleaned or new air filter assembly, P/N 25654414.
  11. Install the access cover for the passenger compartment air filter onto the air inlet grille panel.
  12. Remove the fender covers.
