Removal Procedure
Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is
not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any
underhood electric fan.
Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked,
or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the upper radiator support bar. Refer to
Radiator Support Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical
connector from the motor and the fan bracket.
- Remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket
bolt from the fan shroud.
- Remove the two fan mounting bolts.
- Lift the fan assembly off the lower holding tabs and remove from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fan assembly and insert into the lower radiator holding tabs.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the electric cooling fan mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Align the transaxle oil cooler pipes with
the routing features (1, 2) on the fan shroud.
- Install the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket
bolt to the fan shroud.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the wiring harness electrical connectors
to the fan motors.
- Install the upper radiator support bar. Refer to
Radiator Support Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
