  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Do the windshield wipers operate properly in all modes?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  3. Turn the wiper/washer switch to the following positions:
  4. • MIST
    • LO
    • HI

Does the resistance measure greater than the specified value?

2 ohms

  1. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Turn the wiper/washer switch through the DELAY range.

Does the resistance measure within the specified values?

39K-680K ohms

  1. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Turn the wiper/washer switch to the following positions:
  3. • MIST
    • DELAY
    • LO
    • HI

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

24K ohms

  1. Reconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to HI.

Do the windshield wipers operate properly in HI mode?

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  3. Turn the wiper/washer switch to the following positions:

    • LO
    • HI

Does the resistance measure greater than the specified value?

2 ohms

  1. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 1 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Turn the wiper/washer switch through the DELAY range.

Does the resistance measure within the specified values?

39K-680K ohms

  1. Measure the resistance between the accessory voltage circuit and the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit of the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Turn the wiper/washer switch to the following positions:
  3. • MIST
    • AUTO DELAY
    • LO
    • HI

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

24K ohms

  1. Reconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to HI.

  1. Disconnect the outside moisture sensor connector.
  2. Measure the voltage between the accessory voltage circuit of the outside moisture sensor and a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?
