Circuit Description

The switch that failed and generated this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is part of the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). The DDSA contains a microprocessor which takes the signal generated by this switch and assigns a digital message to it. The DDSA then sends this message over the power door serial data circuit to the driver door module (DDM).

Conditions for Running the DTC

The DDM must be powered and cannot have DTCs B1327-Battery Low Voltage or B1328-Battery High Voltage set for this DTC to set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

If the driver door module (DDM) receives the message that a DDSA window switch is closed for more than 15 continuous seconds the DDM sets this DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • If the UP switch is closed for more than 15 seconds, both UP and DOWN movement is prohibited from the DDSA.
    • If the DOWN switch is closed for more than 15 seconds, DOWN movement is prohibited while UP movement is permitted from the DDSA.
    • If an express switch DTC is set, express function is disabled but regular window functions are not affected.
    • All windows will operate normally from their associated passenger door window switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DDM clears this current DTC when the switch signal is no longer received. The DTC is stored as a history DTC. The history DTC will clear either after 50 OFF/ON cycles of the ignition switch without a repeated failure, or in response to a scan tool command.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. Check the module input state using the normal input status.

  2. Check to see that the input is seen by the module.

2

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Driver Window Switch parameter for the appropriate window switch in the driver door module (DDM) Inputs list.

Does the scan tool display Idle?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

3

  1. Activate the appropriate driver door window switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the driver door window switch parameter for the appropriate switch.

Does the door window switch parameter change state?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 4

4

Inspect for poor connections at the driver door window switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

5

Replace the driver door switch assembly. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?
