Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
- Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
- Remove the shift lever from the linear shift assembly. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .
- Disconnect the A/T shift lock actuator from the linear shift assembly.
- Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the linear shift assembly.
- Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
- Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case assembly. Push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable.
- Remove the retaining screws from the linear shift assembly.
- Remove the linear shift assembly.
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.
Installation Procedure
- Install the linear shift assembly and secure with the retaining screws.
- Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the ignition lock cylinder case assembly.
- Connect the transmission shift cable to the linear shift assembly.
- Connect the A/T shift lock actuator to the linear shift assembly.
- Adjust the A/T shift lock. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement in Shift Lock Control.
- Install the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .
- Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the retaining screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
