J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 508125  Size: SH
  4. Use the J 36346 in order to remove the push pin retainers (2) that retain the front bumper fascia (1) to the front wheelhouse extensions (3).

  5. Object Number: 493988  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the parking lamps.

  7. Object Number: 457579  Size: SH
  8. Loosen the captive stud and nut (1).
  9. Tap up the captive stud and nut (1) in order to clear the keyhole slots in the fenders.
  10. Loosen the bolt (2) enough in order to clear the weld nut on the fenders.
  11. Use the J 36346 in order to remove the push pin retainers (5) securing the front bumper fascia to the upper fascia support.

  12. Object Number: 457691  Size: SH
  13. Use the J 36346 in order to remove the push pin retainers (2) securing the front bumper fascia to the air deflector.
  14. Remove the front bumper fascia and the front energy absorber from the front impact bar.
  15. Remove the energy absorber from the fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 457579  Size: SH
  1. Install the energy absorber to the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement .
  2. Hand start the fasteners (1,2) into the front bumper fascia.
  3. Align the front bumper fascia (3) and the front energy absorber to the front impact bar.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Insert the fasteners (1) into the keyhole slots in the front fenders.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners, bolt (2) first, to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the push pin retainers (5) in order to secure the front bumper fascia (3) to the upper fascia support.

  9. Connect the parking lamp electrical connectors.

  10. Object Number: 508125  Size: SH
  11. Install the push pin retainers (2) in order to secure the front bumper fascia (1) to the front wheelhouse extensions (3).

  12. Object Number: 457691  Size: SH
  13. Install the push pin retainers (2) in order to secure the front bumper fascia.
