Clip Remover
Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper door
trim panel (1).
1.1. | Use theJ 38778
in
order to pry out the retainer at the top of the upper door trim panel. |
1.2. | Lift the upper door trim panel up in order to remove. |
1.3. | Disconnect the wire harness from the tweeter. |
- Remove the insulator (4).
- Remove the door trim panel in order to gain access to the power
mirror wire harness connector (2). Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Disconnect the power mirror wire harness electrical connector (2).
- Disconnect the wire harness from the retainer clips.
- Remove the mirror fasteners.
- Remove the mirror (1) from the door.
- Pull the wiring harness through the hole (3) in the mirror
patch.
Installation Procedure
- Route the mirror wiring
harness (2) through the hole (3) in the mirror patch.
- Install the mirror (1) into the door frame.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the mirror fasteners in the following sequence:
Tighten
- Tighten the top mirror fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Tighten the forward mirror fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Tighten the rear mirror fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the insulator (4).
- Install the mirror wire
harness into the retainer clip (1).
- Attach the wire clip (1) to the door module (3).
- Connect the power mirror electrical connector (2) to the
door module.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to

.
Important: Use a new push in fastener when reinstalling the upper door trim panel.
This will prevent the upper door trim panel from rattling against the door
frame.
- Install the upper door trim panel (1).
9.1. | Connect the wire harness to the tweeter. |
9.2. | Insert the tabs at the bottom of the upper door trim panel into
the slots on the door trim panel. |
9.3. | Insert the push in retainer into the door. |
