Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step determines if the driver door module (DDM) receives the lockout switch request from the driver door switch assembly (DDSA).

  2. This step determines if the indicator is operating properly.

Important: Make sure that the passenger window lockout option is selected as ON in the vehicle owner customization menu. If the window lockout selection is OFF, set it to ON and verify that the fault is still present.

DEFINITION: This test assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify that the Power Windows Inoperative - Lockout Function complaint is present.

Does the power windows lockout system operate as described in the Description and Operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Window Lockout Sw. parameter in the Driver Door Module (DDM), Data Display, Inputs list.
  4. Activate the power window lockout switch to both Active and Idle.

Does the parameter change to both Active and Idle?

Observe the lockout indicator on the window lockout switch button while momentarily pressing the lockout switch button.

Does the indicator illuminate when you momentarily press the lockout switch button, and go out when you momentarily press it again?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DDM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door switch assembly (DDSA). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the DDM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Replace the DDSA. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
