Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Engine Oil Level Switch parameter in the powertrain control module (PCM) Engine Data  2 data list.

Does the Engine Oil Level Switch parameter display Ok?

Does the driver information center (DIC) display Engine Oil Low - Check Level?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the engine oil level switch.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the oil level switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the Engine Oil Level Switch parameter.

Does the Engine Oil Level Switch parameter display Ok?

Test the oil level switch signal circuit for an open or for high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the engine oil level switch for an open or for high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the engine oil level switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the PCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the engine oil level switch. Refer to Engine Oil Level Sensor and/or Switch Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
