Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the windshield defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  3. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 428508 Size: SH
  4. Remove the fasteners (1) from the HUD module (3) to the I/P.
  5. Lift the HUD module (3) from the I/P.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 428508 Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector (2).
  2. Install the lower HUD module (3) into the I/P.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  4. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  5. Install the windshield defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
