Effective with 1988 model year claims processing, scheduled to begin the first credit cycle of September (CM #735) any claims involving 1979 and older vehicles will be processed as "Past Model Claims".
This situation will result in two (2) major changes that will affect claims submission and payment.
1. All claims involving 1979 and older vehicles, except campaign claims, will require Zone approval prior to submission. Failure to obtain approval will result in a claim reject for error #16, Apparent Past Model Vehicle.
2. Except Campaign claims, the seven (7) digit labor operations can no longer be used for claims submission. All claims to be considered for payment will require the use of a five (5) digit labor operation number selected from the 1980 Labor Time Guide that best describes the repair/replacement performed.
3. Campaign claims - this change will not affect the submission of any older campaigns where the campaign bulletin supplies a seven (7) digit labor operation. Those claims should be submitted using the labor operation numbers published in the campaign bulletins.
It is extremely important that the information contained in this bulletin be passed to all dealer personnel involved in warranty claims handling. This will ensure accurate claims submission and prompt claims payment.
