Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement RPO L26

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement
  3. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 460600  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering hose retainer (2) from the engine frame at gear.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.

  7. Object Number: 1739689  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pressure hose banjo bolt (1) and remove the 2 washers (2).
  9. Remove the power steering pressure hose (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1739689  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pressure hose (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pressure hose banjo bolt (1) with 2 NEW washers (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose banjo bolt 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering hose retainer (2) to the engine frame.
  8. Install the power steering pressure hose into the power steering hose retainer.
  9. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the power steering hose fitting at the rack and pinion. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the Power Steering Gear Heat Shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement.
  4. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Pressure Hose Fitting (at pump)

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft)

Power Steering Pressure Hose Bracket Nut

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Power Steering Pressure Hose Push-In Retainer

Tip
Remove the push-in retainer from the bracket.

Power Steering Pressure Hose Fitting (at rack and pinion)

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft)

Power Steering Pressure Hose

Tip
Release the hose from the retainers to remove it from the vehicle.
