This bulletin is being issued to revise the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement procedure in the Antilock Brake sub-section of the Service Manual. Please replace the current information in the Service Manual with the following information.

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the left front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the electronic brake control module.

Fittings, Brake Pipe - Master Cylinder (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Tip

    • Cap the brake pipe fittings to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
    • Finger tighten the brake pipe fittings before tightening to the final torque specification.

Fitting, Brake Pipe

Tighten
18 N·m (13 lb ft)

Tip

    • Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
    • Finger tighten the brake pipe fittings before tightening to the final torque specification.

Fittings, Brake Pipe (Qty: 3)

Tighten
18 N·m (13 lb ft)

Tip

    • Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
    • Finger tighten the brake pipe fittings before tightening to the final torque specification.

Bolt, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) to Bracket

Tighten
10 N·m (89 lb in)

Valve, Brake Pressure Modulator (BPMV)

Tip
DO NOT separate the BPMV from the electronic brake control module (EBCM) until out of the vehicle on a work bench.

Screws, EBCM to BPMV (Qty: 4)

Tighten
3 N·m (27 lb in)

Module, Electronic Brake Control (EBCM)

Tip

    • If equipped with a brake fluid pressure sensor, connect the electrical connector.
    • Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling.
    • Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
    • Perform the automated bleed procedure. Refer to Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure.
    • Perform the system check - vehicle. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
