Crank No Start, License Plate or Aux Tail Lamps Inoperative, Service Suspension Message

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Engine cranks but does not start, the license plate lamps are inoperative, the auxiliary tail lamps (Located on the decklid) are inoperative or a Service Suspension message on. Ground G403, located in the lower right of the rear compartment, behind the right wheelhouse panel, is attached to a painted bracket. The paint on the bracket may be preventing a reliable ground path even if the attaching nut is fully tightened.

Remove the attaching nut and bolt for ground G403. Sand the bracket to remove the paint where the ground bolt attaches. Re-install ground G403 and paint over it.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
