Engine Leaking Coolant - keywords cup cylinder engine expansion freeze plug

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that the engine is leaking coolant.

Upon inspection you may find that the coolant appears to be coming out between the front of the rear cylinder head and the combination alternator/tensioner bracket. Upon removal of the tensioner bracket you may find that the small expansion (cup or freeze) plug located in the backside of the bracket is leaking.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the small expansion plug located in the rear of the bracket is leaking, replace the bracket with a new one (P/N 12590766). Do not attempt to repair or replace the expansion plug. Contact Jim Kelly on (586) 492-5612 and he will supply you with a parts waiver and shipping information on where to send the old bracket

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
