Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1674286 Size: SH

    Important: DO NOT remove the screws from the upper air cleaner cover.

  1. Loosen the air cleaner cover screws (1).

    2. Object Number: 1755968 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) hose quick connect fitting (1) from the air cleaner, if equipped. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

    3. Object Number: 1694143 Size: SH
  3. Open the air cleaner cover.
  4. Remove the air filter from the air cleaner.

    5. Important: The air cleaner cover has a hydro carbon adsorber that is not serviceable. If the adsorber shows any kind of physical damage the cover must be replaced.

  5. Inspect the air cleaner housing assembly for damage. If a problem is found, replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1694143 Size: SH
  1. Install the air filter to the air cleaner.
  2. Close the air cleaner cover. Ensure that the inboard hinges are engaged prior to tightening the screws.

    3. Object Number: 1755968 Size: SH
  3. Connect the AIR hose quick connect fitting (1) to the air cleaner, if equipped. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1674286 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the air cleaner cover screws (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
