J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 105014  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Support the control arm with a suitable jack.
  4. Remove the automatic level control sensor link from the control arm.
  5. Remove the lower shock absorber retaining bolts.
  6. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear caliper pin bolts.
  8. Using heavy wire, hang the rear brake caliper.

  10. Remove the adjustment link retaining nut.

  11. Object Number: 643351  Size: SH
  12. Using J 24319-B separate the adjustment link from the lower control arm.

  13. Object Number: 105025  Size: SH
  14. Slowly lower the lower control arm until it bottoms on the support assembly.
  15. Using a pry bar, pry under the lower coil spring insulator and remove the coil spring with the insulator.
  16. Remove the upper coil spring insulator by pulling downward.
  17. Separate the lower control arm insulator from the coil spring.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the upper coil spring insulator to the body.

  2. Object Number: 105026  Size: SH
  3. Install the lower coil spring insulator in the control arm.
  4. Install the coil spring ensuring that the coil spring insulators are seated in the upper and lower control arms.

  5. Object Number: 105014  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Raise the lower control arm and install the shock absorber retaining bolts in the lower control arm.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the lower shock absorber retaining bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Attach the rear brake caliper to the bracket using the caliper guide pin bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the caliper guide pin bolts to 34 N·m (25 lb in).

  10. Install the stabilizer link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 397546  Size: SH
  12. Install the adjustment link to the control arm.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten adjustment link retaining nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) plus 180 degrees.

  14. Connect the automatic level control sensor link to the control arm.
  15. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
