Removal Procedure

Important: A service replacement evaporative emission (EVAP) canister will come with a EVAP canister filter, but will NOT come with a EVAP canister vent solenoid valve. The valve will have to be transferred from the old canister.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Disconnect the chassis EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  3. Disconnect the fuel tank vapor line quick connect fitting (3) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  4. Disconnect the fuel fill pipe vent line quick connect fitting (2) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  6. Disconnect the fuel tank wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the fuel tank pressure sensor, if equipped.
  7. Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor (1), if equipped.
  8. Remove the EVAP canister nuts.

  10. Lower the EVAP canister until the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve electrical connector can be disconnected.
  11. Disconnect the rear body harness electrical connector from the EVAP canister vent solenoid.

  13. Remove the EVAP canister.

  15. Place the EVAP canister on a suitable work surface.
  16. Rotate the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve counterclockwise.

  18. Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve to the new canister.

  2. Object Number: 1672169  Size: SH
  3. Rotate the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve clockwise until the solenoid valve comes to a stop in the retainer.

  4. Object Number: 1672202  Size: SH
  5. Place the EVAP canister near the underbody.
  6. Connect the rear body harness electrical connector to the EVAP canister vent solenoid.

  7. Object Number: 1672201  Size: SH
  8. Install the EVAP canister onto the studs.
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Install the EVAP canister nuts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  12. Install the fuel tank pressure sensor (1), if equipped.
  13. Connect the fuel tank wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the fuel tank pressure sensor, if equipped.

  14. Object Number: 1671749  Size: SH
  15. Connect the fuel fill pipe vent line quick connect fitting (2) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  16. Connect the fuel tank vapor line quick connect fitting (3) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  17. Connect the chassis EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  18. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
