Subject:Instrument Panel Lights Inop

Models:2006-2007 Buick Lucerne

This PI has been updated to provide additional detail about circuit 8 operation. Please discard PIC3823.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

All or some of the Instrument Panel Display Lights are inop. Fuse F10 in the Rear Bussed Electrical Center (RBEC) may be open.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Check for a short on circuit 8 (GY). The interior lamps dimming are supplied power by the BCM on circuit 8. If it detects a short, the BCM will no longer supply power. Circuit 8 connects to the BCM in two locations C2-3 and C6-3. A short on either wire can cause all of the lights to become inoperative.

Note: Inspect the IP wire harness for being pinched between the Instrument Panel Carrier and the Lower Support Bracket behind the Ash Tray assembly.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
