The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

PARKING ASSIST OFF or SERVICE PARK ASSIST messages displayed. A red light may be shown on the Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist displays.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The most likely cause for this condition is a poor connection at connector C494, Rear Fascia Harness to Body Harness (UD7). Testing of returned Park Assist Modules replaced under warranty, have frequently been found to be No Trouble Found. Ensure all wiring and sensors have been eliminated as the cause of this concern by following the appropriate diagnostic and repair procedures for the DTC stored. It is not necessary to replace the Park Assist Module when other repairs are made. The system will become temporarily disabled and the PARKING ASSIST OFF message will be displayed if the sensors are dirty, a trailer, bicycle, or similar object is attached to the vehicle in front of the sensors or the parking brake pedal is depressed.

If the concern cannot be duplicated, ensure the customer is familiar with temporary conditions found in the owner's manual that may cause the system not to activate. Check the Park Assist Disable History using the Tech 2. Contact Technical Assistance if additional help is required.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
