Subject:Fluid Leak from Steering Gear Line Connection

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Power steering fluid and drips may be observed on the Front Subframe (1), Steering Gear, or lines (2) where they connect to the gear on low mileage vehicles suggesting there is leak in the power steering system.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The fluid observed is most likely residual fluid that has spilled out of the Steering Gear during the vehicle assembly process and is not the result of a leak. Clean the area as necessary. DO NOT replace the Steering Gear or Power Steering Pipe/Hoses. DO NOT use any type of thread sealer on the hose fittings.
