Condition

Some customers may comment that the navigation radio display locks up or displays any of the following error messages. These conditions may occur after keying to RUN or when attempting to access the NAV, DEST or MENU buttons. The navigation system typically recovers after one key cycle.

    • Disc Check In Progress
    • CD/DVD Turned Over
    • Map DVD Error
    • Disc Error
    • The Disc Installed Is Not A MAP DVD

These error messages may also be displayed if the DVD map disc or CD has any type of scratches or blemishes on the disc.

Correction

Do not replace the navigation radio for any of the concerns listed above. Use the following procedure to correct these concerns:

  1. The dealer should contact the GM Navigation Disc Center and request a free 2008 model year DVD map disc update. The dealer must have the VIN available to receive the update. For reference purposes, the part number of the update is 25880099. The GM Navigation Disc Center contact information is listed below.
  2. Once the dealer has received the DVD disc, the dealer should ask the customer to return to the dealership to have their navigation software updated. The dealer may also offer the option of having the DVD disc shipped directly to the customer so that they can perform the update themselves. Dealers should communicate to their customers that the new DVD disc updates both the navigation software and provides updated map data.
  3. To update the navigation software, the following steps should be followed:
  4. • Make sure the vehicle is in PARK and the ignition is set to ACC or RUN power mode.
    • Eject the current map disc by pressing "Menu > NAV > Map Database Information > Eject Map Disc."
    • Insert the new map disc into the radio. The radio will display a message, followed by a progress bar, to indicate that the software update is in progress.
    • When the update is completed, the radio will transition to Map mode.
    • Press the Audio button to return to the main audio page then tune to any FM RDS station.
    • Press and hold the Menu and Seek Up button for about 3 seconds. The radio will display the software information. The first four digits represent the Navigation software version. Verify that the software is 100E.
    • Leave the new DVD map disc in the radio and advise the customer to discard the old disc to avoid any confusion about which disc is most current.
