The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

On rare occasions a customer may comment the engine will stall or not crank over or start intermittently. The SERVICE AIR BAG will display in the Driver Information Center and the Air Bag indicator is on steady. The HVAC display will be inoperative. Additionally, one or more of the following DTCs may be stored:

SDM

   •

B1019 3A: Incorrect Component Installed

   •

B1370 06: Device Ignition 1 Circuit Short to Ground or Open

HVAC

   •

B0413 06: Temperature Control 1 Feedback Circuit Short to Ground or Open

   •

B0423 06: Temperature Control 2 Feedback Circuit Short to Ground or Open

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Inspect for contact between the ground strap cable and the A/C compressor pulley. The cable should be secured in the forward position where it attaches to the body at G111 (1).

  2. Object Number: 2030257 Size: SH
  3. Inspect the Ignition Control Module (ICM) terminal connections for any condition that would cause a poor connection.
  4. Peel off the tape on the engine harness breakout for G112 (5) to inspect where the wires are welded and crimped to the ground ring terminal. One or more of the wires (circuit 1551) may not be properly welded to the terminal causing the RUN/CRANK Relay located in the Underhood Fuse Block to de-energize un-expectantly or not energize at all. Repair the connection as necessary.

Notice: Early build 2006 vehicles utilize a splice pack in place of the eyelet shown.

Important: The Transmission Shift cable may be contacting the harness bundle near the ground causing the connection to worsen or improve when the shifter is moved.
