Transmission Service Engine Soon Light Illuminated And DTC P0842 - keywords 1-2 4T65E body bore control MIL P0842 PWm SES shift solenoid TCC transmission valve

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

SES Light On, comment may be harsh 1-2 shift. TECH 2 parameters may show 0% TCC slip. Technician may be able to repeat after clearing code and performing a road test or during diagnosis code may clear and not reset.

Cause may found to be debris in the TCC Control Valve Bore restricting valve movement to allow TCC release pressure to flow. Debris may have damaged the TCC Solenoid Screen in the end of the TCC Solenoid.

Remove the valve body per SI instructions for removal. Remove the TCC Solenoid (item 334) and inspect the end of the screen (refer to picture). If screen damage is found, replace the TCC Solenoid. Inspect the TCC Control Valve (item 335) in the valve body. If the valve shows heavy scoring and it is restricted or will not move freely in the valve body bore, valve body replacement may be required. If the end of the valve shows slight scoring and the valve moves freely in the valve body bore, valve body replacement is not required. Replace only the TCC/PWM solenoid. Refer to the 4T65E Valve Body Reconditioning bulletin 08-07-30-002 for cleaning and reconditioning instructions. Follow appropriate SI instructions for reinstalling all parts.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
