This PI was superseded to reworded the CONDITION/ CONCERN and the RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTION fields to enhance clarity, and insert the previously missing illustration for SI. Please discard PIC4829.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
When servicing a vehicle for a Stabilitrak system customer concern, be advised that the Tech 2 Data Display may not display the Yaw Rate Signal and Lateral Accelerometer Signal voltages accurately. This could cause improper diagnoses of the customer concern.
North American Operations Tech 2 software applications 27.012- 28.002 are known to display the Yaw Rate Signal and Lateral Accelerometer Signal voltages incorrectly. In example, the Yaw Rate Sensor is shown as -75.53V, and the Lateral Accelerometer Signal may be displayed as 1.26V with the vehicle stationary.
The expected readings will be 2.5V when the signals are working normally.
Important: It will be necessary to identify the newer vehicles as a 2006 Model Year in the Tech 2 in order to view VSES Data after the Tech 2 has been updated with the older release. A correction for this Tech 2 issue is currently in development and this PI will be updated as to the timing of its release.
If using the Tech 2 Data Display is determined to be necessary to read these signals, back date the Tech 2 software to North American Operations application 26.010. Use the following steps in TIS2Web to accomplish this:
Important: Return the Tech 2 software to the most current application when your testing is complete to avoid loss of other Tech 2 functionality.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
