Subject: | Service Engine Soon (SES) Light, DTC P0327, P0332 or Spark Knock |
Models: | 2008 Buick Lucerne |
This PI was superseded to update diagnostic and repair aid. Please discard PIP4346.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment that the SES light is on. Others may comment that they hear spark knock when the engine is accelerating or under a load. Upon inspection with a Tech 2 you may find DTC P0327 (Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Bank 1) or DTC P0332: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Bank 2.
Follow the diagnostic information contained in SI. If the problem is with the rear bank knock sensor, pay particular attention to the single wire in-line connector which is located a short distance away from the knock sensor. Inspect the terminals inside the connector for proper engagement. Note: This in-line connector is a manufacturing aid and is only used during the assembly of the vehicle.
If your diagnosis leads you to replacing either knock sensor then contact Jim Kelly on (586) 492-5612 and he will supply you with a parts waiver and shipping information on where to send the old knock sensor(s).
Please use the correct labor operation for replacing the knock sensors.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
