Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LZ9/LGD

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Install drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  4. Object Number: 2116247  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose retainer bolt (2).
  6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose fitting (1) from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 2119192  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose fitting (1) from the steering gear.
  9. Remove the remaining plastic retainer from the power steering pressure hose.
  10. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pressure hose to the vehicle.
  2. Install the plastic retainer to the power steering pressure hose.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2119192  Size: SH

    Note: Start all fittings and bolt by hand before finalizing any torques.

  4. Connect the power steering pressure hose fitting (1) to the steering gear.
  5. Tighten the power steering pressure hose fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Connect the power steering pressure hose fitting (1) to the power steering pump.
  7. Tighten the power steering pressure hose fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the power steering pressure hose retainer bolt (2).
  9. Tighten the power steering pressure retainer bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the power steering hose fitting at the rack and pinion. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the Power Steering Gear Heat Shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement.
  4. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft)

Power Steering Pressure Hose Bracket Nut

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Power Steering Pressure Hose Push-In Retainer

Tip
Remove the push-in retainer from the bracket.

Power Steering Pressure Hose Fitting (at rack and pinion)

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft)

Power Steering Pressure Hose

Tip
Release the hose from the retainers to remove it from the vehicle.
