Power Steering Return Hose Replacement LZ9/LGD

Removal Procedure

  1. Install drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

  3. Object Number: 2122869  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose (2) from the power steering return hose.

  5. Object Number: 2119193  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering return hose fitting (1) from the steering gear.

  7. Object Number: 2122232  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the power steering return hose plastic retainers.
  9. Remove the power steering return hose (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2122232  Size: SH
  1. Position the power steering return hose (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the power steering return hose plastic retainers.
  4. Tighten the power steering return hose to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering return hose fitting (1) to the steering gear.

  6. Object Number: 2122869  Size: SH
  7. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose (2) to the power steering return hose and release the power steering fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp (1).
  8. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  9. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Raise and lower the vehicle as necessary to access the power steering hose fitting at the rack and pinion. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the Power Steering Gear Heat Shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement.
  4. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Return Hose Clamp (at pump)

Tip
Release the clamp to remove the hose form the pump fitting.

Power Steering Return Hose (at pump)

Tip
Pull the power steering return hose off of the pump fitting.

Power Steering Return Hose Bracket Bolt

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Power Steering Return Hose Fitting (at rack and pinion)

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft)

Tip
Release the hose from the retainers to remove it from the vehicle.
