Preliminary Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement

Bolt (Qty: 4)

Note: The pully bolts may be loosned before the drive belt is removed.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Water Pump Pulley

Bolt (Qty: 5)

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Note: Always use the NEW gasket supplied with the water pump.

Water Pump Replacement LD8

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1564175 Size: SH
  1. Remove the water pump housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement.
  2. Remove the water pump cover bolt/studs.
  3. Remove the water pump cover.

    4. Object Number: 1564207 Size: SH
  4. Remove the water pump bolts.
  5. Remove the water pump.

    6. Object Number: 1564167 Size: SH
  6. Remove and discard the water pump O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1564167 Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW water pump O-ring seal.

    2. Object Number: 1564207 Size: SH
  2. Install the water pump.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the water pump bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1564175 Size: SH
  4. Install the water pump cover.

    5. Object Number: 682832 Size: SH

    Note: Ensure that the bolt is installed in the lower inboard position (1) and the studs are installed in the remaining positions (2).

  5. Install the water pump cover bolt/studs.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt/studs to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the water pump housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement.
